We are a family-owned foundry group based in India, supplying electric motor castings to markets in the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, India, Italy, and Mexico.

Starting in 1967 as a modest supplier to local diesel engine manufacturers, we have grown into a foundry producing 50,000 tons annually, serving world-class engineering companies. Our group consists of the following companies:

  1. Prashant Castech (P) Ltd.
  2. Prashant Ferrex (P) Ltd.
  3. Prashant Castings (P) Ltd. (Merged with Prashant Castech (P) Ltd. as of 01/08/2022, with retrospective effect from 01/04/2021)

Our production operations are spread across three plants located within 7 km of each other, where we handle casting, machining, palletizing, and container loading in-house.

Our management philosophy is straightforward: leverage our existing knowledge base and stay updated with industry best practices.

We understand the critical importance of QUALITY and ON-TIME DELIVERY as partners in our customers’ complex supply chains, which has fueled our continuous growth and strengthened customer confidence. Our motto is simple: “DELIVERING QUALITY, BUILDING PARTNERSHIPS.”

Foundries: The Backbone of Infrastructure

Foundries in India are industrial facilities where metal is melted and molded into various shapes for different industrial applications. These foundries manufacture a diverse range of components, from small machine parts to large structural elements used in construction and heavy machinery. The significance of foundries in infrastructure development is evident in their contributions across several key sectors:

  • Construction Industry:
Foundries produce essential components like steel beams, columns, and other structural elements required for building, bridges, and infrastructure projects. The quality and durability of these components directly affect the safety and longevity of the structures.

  • Transportation Sector:
The transportation industry, including railways, automotive, and aerospace, depends on foundries for critical parts such as engine blocks, railway tracks, and aircraft components. These parts are fundamental to the efficiency and reliability of transportation systems, which serve as the backbone of economic activity.

  • Energy Sector:
Foundries also support the energy sector, including power generation and transmission, by producing components like turbines, generators, and transformers. These castings are vital for the stable supply and distribution of electricity. With the increasing shift toward renewable energy, foundries are now also manufacturing components for wind turbines and solar panel mounts.

  • Water and Sanitation:
Foundries play a crucial role in water and sanitation infrastructure by producing pipes, valves, and pumps for water treatment plants and sewage systems. These components are essential for providing clean water and proper sanitation, which are vital to public health and well-being.

  • Technological Advancements and Innovation:
India’s foundry industry has seen significant technological progress in recent years. Modern foundries now use cutting-edge technologies like computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) to improve precision and production efficiency. Innovations such as 3D printing and advanced molding techniques have transformed the design and manufacturing processes.

Additionally, the incorporation of automation and robotics in foundries has boosted productivity and reduced errors. These technological advancements enable foundries to meet the growing demands of infrastructure projects while maintaining high-quality standards and operational efficiency.

Government Initiatives and Support in Foundries in India

Recognizing the vital role of the foundry industry in infrastructure development, the Indian government has introduced several initiatives to foster its growth:

  • Make in India:
The ‘Make in India’ initiative aims to boost domestic manufacturing and attract investment. This has led to the establishment of new foundries and the expansion of existing ones, significantly increasing the sector’s production capacity.

  • Infrastructure Development Policies:
Government programs like the National Infrastructure Pipeline (NIP) have created a favorable environment for foundries by driving demand for construction materials and components, thereby providing consistent market opportunities.

  • Skill Development Programs:
To address the industry’s skill gap, numerous training institutes and programs have been launched. These initiatives focus on equipping the workforce with specialized skills, improving both capability and employability within the sector.

  • Environmental Regulations:
The government has introduced strict environmental guidelines to promote sustainable practices in the foundry sector. Foundries investing in eco-friendly technologies and waste management systems are encouraged through incentives and subsidies.

Looking Ahead

The future of India’s foundry industry appears bright, fueled by ongoing infrastructure development and growing urbanization and industrialization. As demand for durable, high-quality components rises, the industry’s emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and workforce development will be key to its continued progress.

Final Words

In summary, foundries are the cornerstone of India’s infrastructure development, delivering critical components across multiple sectors. Despite challenges, the industry has demonstrated remarkable resilience and adaptability, backed by progressive government policies and technological growth. As the sector evolves, it will play an increasingly important role in building a stronger, more sustainable infrastructure for India’s future.
